Engagement 101 x iLAH Jewelry x James Merendino's SLC PUNK

"Only posers fall in love" - what starts as Stevo's cynical claim in SLC Punk! has grown into something deeper. On the surface, it dismisses love as fake and un-punk. But when said to Bob (who's fallen for scene-queen Trish), it reveals a truth: real love is messy and raw.

This line has become tattoo-worthy not because it rejects love, but redefines it. It's not the tidy love of rom-coms or mainstream culture, but the kind that exists outside convention - in places like Salt Lake City or Parisian cafés, where passion defies norms. In SLC Punk and its sequel, the love between Trish and Bob proves to be everlasting, contradicting Stevo's initial cynicism.

Ilah Cibis is a jewelry designer and goldsmith based in Worcester, MA. She owns iLAH Jewelry, named one of the coolest jewelry stores in the country by INSTORE Magazine in 2024. After studying at the North Bennet Street School in Boston, she opened her studio in 2006. Her design style is ever-evolving—hectic, eclectic, and uniquely her own.

Ilah's work has been featured in Vanity Fair, Vogue, and Tatler UK. Originally from Kansas City, she grew up immersed in the '90s punk and ska scene, attending shows from the age of 13. “We all felt like we were in the middle of nowhere, but going to those shows made me feel connected to something bigger.” A longtime fan of SLC Punk, she’s thrilled to collaborate with James and Severine on this project.
